A.P.Glenard Tattoo is a private tattoo studio based in San Francisco, CA.  Dedicated to creating traditional French blackwork tattoo’s, we  maintain a commitment to the highest possible standards of tattooing excellence, clinical-level hygiene, and customer service—all at a fair price, in a comfortable and friendly environment. Our clients privacy, well being and aftercare is taken seriously by providing a private, exclusive, and intimate tattoo experience.

The studio was started back in 2017 in Berkeley, as a project on sustainability for the tattoo industry known as Black Needle Tattoo. Our goal was to create a waste free tattoo process and to implement a variety of tactics to combat negative environmental impacts the tattoo industry has on our environment. Once the project was successfully able to model change for sustainability in a tattoo setting, we set out to establish ourselves as A.P.Glenard Tattoo, San Francisco’s finest traditional French blackwork tattoo studio. 

The grittiness and esthetic look to more traditional blackwork style tattoos is what drives us to create unique and meaningful tattoo art. Tattoos are powerful marks that we put into our skin, and as beautiful as some may be, it’s the power and meaning  that the wearer receives that is the true beauty of this art form. Tattoos don’t have to be complicated to have tons of meaning, and that is the appeal of simple tattoos. The meaning outshines the art, standing the test of time.

The Artist

A Bay Area local and French expat, Alex (A.P.Glenard) has been tattooing in the San Francisco Bay Area for 13 years. Minimalism, along with punk rock aesthetics and French tattoo history, have all come together to shape Alex’s style… along with a passion for tattooing that’ll never die.
